Union Congregational Church UCC is thrilled to announce its 150th Anniversary Celebration Service on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM. This momentous occasion marks 150 years since the church’s establishment in 1873 and its formal organization as Union UCC in 1875. The service, themed “Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, Embrace the Future,” invites the community to join in reflecting on Union UCC’s rich history and looking forward to its future. The worship service will feature special music, storytelling, and reflections on the church’s legacy in Elk River. Following the service, a fellowship potluck will provide an opportunity for connection and celebration. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share or simply enjoy the camaraderie of the Union UCC community.
Throughout February, the Union UCC History Museum will showcase a fascinatingly nostalgic collection of artifacts and memorabilia, including the 1925 time capsule, commemorative plates, glassware, tapestries, and photographs documenting the church’s vibrant journey through the decades. The display will be available for viewing Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a unique glimpse into the past for all who visit.
“Union Congregational Church UCC has been a beacon of Christ’s love, faith, and service in Elk River for 150 years,” shared Rev. Nora P. Elliott, the church’s newly settled pastor, who was called in August and installed on November 10, 2024. “As someone who is still getting to know this wonderful community, I have been deeply moved by the faithfulness, warmth, and commitment of Elk River residents. This celebration is an opportunity to give thanks for God’s faithfulness throughout our history, to honor those who came before us, and to rededicate ourselves to following Christ, as we embrace the future with hope and joy.”
