Often times Union Church, our church is called the church with the Angel Window. It is For over 100 years now our ministers have looked out at the congregation with the Angel Window in the background. What a double blessing. The Angel Window was installed in 1919 and dedicated to the memory of all those who served in World War I, also called “The Great War,” and “The War to End All Wars.” The window shows The Angel of Life and Flanders Fields. Take a moment and study the window if you never have. That is when you can really appreciate its beauty.

To some of us The Centennial Society is a little bit mysterious. We don’t really know what it is, what its history is and what they do or why is it called “The Centennial Society.” Well, here are some answers. On January 18, 1876, the ladies of the church organized and named their group  “The Centennial Society,” in honor of the hundred years since the Declaration of Independence was signed. It was the Centennial year. They are a group that raises money through events, such as the Fall Bazaar and The Silver Tea Service and special offerings. They are are very helpful in getting things done in the church, like giving money to the kitchen renovation and other worthy causes and endeavors. Also of great importance, they are the ones who make the lefsa! They are always looking for new members. If you are looking for a place to make a difference in our church, The Centennial Society might be the right place for you.
